Poisoned Wine Features Antichrist as the Supreme Ruler of the Great Tribulation

Behold the Biblical End Time Beast

Daniel describes Antichrist and his government as a great beast with ten horns. He envisioned four different beasts: a lion (Great Britain), a bear (Russia), a leopard with four heads (Germany), and an indescribable fourth beast with ten horns (Antichrist and his government). Daniel’s fourth beast was dreadful and terrible. “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns” (Daniel 7:7). “In Bible prophecy a beast represents a nation along with its ruler” (Irvin Baxter) and a horn represents a ruler or king (Revelation 17:12). Daniel saw three beasts (three nations and their rulers), and then he saw Antichrist and the biblical End Time Great Tribulation.

In John’s vision, Daniel’s first three beasts shrouded Antichrist. “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion” (Revelation 13:2). The beast with ten horns had a leopard’s body, a bear’s feet, and seven heads. The name Blasphemy was stamped on each forehead, depicting ever-present false doctrine. Four of the heads were leopards’ heads, the fifth a bear’s head, the sixth a lion’s head, and the seventh was the dreadful and terrible head of Antichrist that had ten horns adorned with ten crowns.

The End Time Beast Emerges from the European Union

The Beast with ten horns, representing Antichrist and his government, emerges from the EU, Germany’s presently rising Fourth Reich. According to the ten horns, the Antichrist’s government will be a union of ten nations. For this to be true either the EU membership shrinks to ten members or a ten-member union rises up within the EU. Possibly, the ten-nation governing body of Antichrist will be the Western European Union, the ten-member union that is already part of the EU.

John’s vision portrays Great Britain (lion), Russia (bear), and Germany (leopard) as building blocks for the kingdom of the Antichrist. The seven heads on Antichrist represent the number of times Great Britain, Russia, Germany, and the End Time beast rise and fall from power. The lion’s head represents Great Britain’s rise to power, the bear’s head Russia’s rise to power, and the four leopards’ heads represent Germany’s four rises to power (Reichs). The seventh head with ten horns represents the rise to power of Antichrist and his ten-nation governing body (Irvin Baxter Jr., Understanding the Endtime). Great Britain, Russia, and Germany all attained world-power status; however, Germany’s First Reich led to the Holy Roman Empire (AD 800–1806). Germany’s presently rising Fourth Reich leads to the End Time revived Holy Roman Empire and the Antichrist.

Ten horns on the End Time Beast represent the leaders of Antichrist’s ten-nation governing body. These ten leaders will govern under the supervision of Antichrist. Each leader wears a crown to designate his reign with Antichrist during the Great Tribulation.

Antichrist Is Supreme Ruler of the Great Tribulation

Antichrist is the dreaded ruler of the Great Tribulation. He will come out of the EU (German Empire). Antichrist will rise to power from among the ten rulers of the yet to be determined EU ten-nation union by diminishing the leading roles of the three most prominent rulers. “I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.” (Daniel 7:8) The little horn with a man’s eyes and a man’s mouth is another biblical picture of Antichrist. Likely, the Antichrist will be an EU president that allies himself with the pope, bringing about the revival of the Holy Roman Empire. If so, Antichrist will probably surface as a new EU president (Roman emperor), holding an agreement made with the pope.

During the reign of Antichrist, the peoples of the world think they have a government ruled by Messiah who is invincible and no nation on earth can overpower it. They worship Antichrist, saying, “Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:4). They refuse to seek righteousness in obedience to God’s Word. “But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. . . . O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 57:20; 48:18). The people of the world believe Antichrist brings peace and safety, but he brings persecution and death.

However, not all people of the world will worship Antichrist. John saw “a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast . . . stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God” (Revelation 15:2). These people joyfully play heavenly harps. They are redeemed because they refused to partake of the sins of the Roman Catholic Church or embrace the Babylonian spirit that presently thrives throughout the entire world. They faced death but came out of her (Roman Catholic Church) (Revelation 18:4). Although the peoples and nations of the world create the Antichrist that John saw come from the sea, many do not succumb to Antichrist’s government by worshiping him or obeying laws that contradict the Bible.

Many thanks go to Reverend Irvin Baxter for his clearly detailed study of the end-time.
